Death to boredom

01.03.03 | 1 Comment

Another life lesson learned again. The hard way.

I am no longer allowed to take a week off to spend at home. A day or two? Sure, why not? But never, ever again, an entire week.

Invariably, the week ends about three or four days early with me dying of utter boredom. When the week starts, sure it sounds great. All that time to sit around on my ass and do nothing. No one to boss me around, tell me what to do. Quality time with the sofa and cats. A couple of DVDs. A couple of good games of Civ. But nope. Invariably, that lasts me no more than three days.

This time I thought I’d try to beat the system. How? Projects. That’s right, and you’re looking at one of them. Watching the Lord of the Rings documentaries took up most of an afternoon. Getting my wife new tires lasted an afternoon. But that still leaves me most of a week.

Oh, I could do that reading for work, sure. But then I wouldn’t be on vacation, would I?
