If I hear John “Coal Miner’s Daughter” Edwards tell any more sad stories about freckled little red-haired girls who lost their legs in meat packing plant accidents due to the corporate malfeasance of Snidely Whiplash, Inc., I’m going to find a way to vote against him twice. Even if Snidely Whiplash doesn’t provide health insurance.
These things are still happening. Even worse, it’s happening to whole towns. Like the whole mountain topping thing; it’s horrific. I don’t know about little red haired girls, though.
Thank you for sharing your desire to commit voter fraud! I love the honesty. John Edwards emotional appeal does not jive with you. Maybe if he was Jesus he could have just given her legs…
Since he isn’t Jesus, maybe Obama can heal her?
I agree that the situations are all too real. It’s the sacharine, guilty way he tells the stories. And that politicians have really ridden that rhetorical horse to death.
For that voting option, you may have to moved to Chicago. Ten years after moving out of my parents’ house, I was still on the voting rolls in that precinct. And I was on the voting rolls in the precinct in which I lived. It’s even possible I was on the rolls in ALL the precincts in which I had ever lived. Ah, I miss Chicago!
Edwards is a lawyer, and by all accounts a very successful lawyer. Lawyers, at least litigators, are prone to drama. It works.
Furthermore, emotional appeals clearly work with the American public, or Bush would never have gotten anywhere near the White House.
You may not like the style Edwards delivers his message in, but the message is right on: we need to control the corporations so that they don’t control us.
You may be putting style above substance.
If he gets the nomination, will you vote for a Republican or a Green or someone else?
Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Yes, Kim, if he gets the nomination, I’m going to write in Dick Cheney.
