A friend forwarded me this email. Say farewell to Nigerian spam. Now spam will go all Holy Ghost on your ass:
(Yes, the first paragraph is really that long in the original.)
Brethren,
Isaiah 1: 18 said ” Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”. It is by the same grace that i write you today, having known the truth,i am compleed to the will of Him who has called me.For the witness of God’s mercies and glory upon my life that i count it a previlege to share my testimony with you, having got your contact from the internet. I am FRANK ADEGE ,an attorney to the late Mr and Mrs Mark Collins,an America couple that lived in my country Nigeria for 20years before they both died in an ill fated plane crash late last year. The couple were dedicated christians and believers in the word and act. They until their death believed God for a child but they never had any . While in my country they invested in Real Estate and the Oil Industry. They were weatlthy in every sense of the word. As their Attorney, before their death, the husband Mr. Mark Collins instructed me to write his WILL Because they had no child or any known sibiling, they bequeathed their wealth to God’s work.According to the WILL, the properties have to be disposed and the proceeds realised channelled into a ministry for the work of God or any humanitarian endeavour. Being their attorney, all the documents for the properties were put in my care. He gave me the authority to sell the properties and give out the fund to the ministries for the work of God.In line with their Will, i sold off their properties after at their demise. To be candid i realised over $2.5 million (Two Million Five Hundred Thousand USD) My rightful paymnent for my legal fee was deducted by me from the total amount realised from the sale of the properties, this was premised on the initial agreement between the Collins and my humble self before their death. The total sum to be set aside for funding of the Gospel as instructed by Mr Mark Collins is $2.500,000.00 (Two Million Five Hundred Thousand US Dollars) only. But Instead of giving the fund out for the work of God then, as initially instructed by the owner before his death, i fraudulently converted the funds for to my personal use with an eye for investment abroad for my evil benefits, against the ultimatewishes of the original owners. I was afraid of putting the fund in the Bank, because I have to give account to the bank on how I got the money. I used a Finance company which has an overseas office to deposit the funds . The Finance and security company on my instructions has since moved the funds to their office in Europe. But praise be to God that in that we were yet sinners Christ died for us, i had an encounter with God when Dr Benny Hinn came on a three day crusade to my country on the 29th of April 2005.Subsequently my eyes were opened to the book of Acts 5:1-11 about Ananias and Saphira and the book of 2Kings 5:20-27 about Gehazi the servant of Elisha,i was so ashamed of my act greed and selfishness. In my personal study of the word of God i came accross the book of Ezekiel 36:26-27 that says “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statues, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them” I confessed my sins of greed and illegal appropriation of another man’s wealth. From the scripture, I discovered that the only way I could have peace in my life is to do what is lawful and right by giving out the fund as instructed for the work of God by the owner before his death.I have asked God for forgiveness and I know that God has forgiven me. But I have to do what is lawful and right in the sight of God by chanelling the funds into the Lord’s ministry work or for Charity as instructed by the owner before his death. After my fasting and prayers, I asked God to make his choice and direct me to a honest Christian or the chosen ministry that deserves this fund by his Grace. I then contacted you, and as a matter of fact, it is not only you or your ministry that I picked initially, but after my fervent prayer over it, then you were nominated to me through divine revelation from God.
The Finance Company where I deposited the funds i did notify that i will soon transfer the deposit out of their custody to a recepient. So if you know that you will use this fund honestly and wisely for the things that will glorify God’s name, then do urgently contact me back first through this mail and the details will be given to you on how you will be able to receive the fund in your country.
For avoidance of doubt, i make bold to say that i will be responsible for any financial commitment in the course of the transfer of funds to you.
Let brotherly love continue!
Yours in Christ,
FRANK ADEGE
UUs honor all religious traditions and want to integrate every single variety of religious experience under our big tent, because all paths are equally valid and worthy of appreciation and respect, including Benny-Hinnian Christianity. Any Benny-Hinnist UUs out there? What about a Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Benny-Hinnists, or a Fellowship of Benny-Hinnian Awareness?

Um, no. Benny Hinn and his ilk are charlatans who prey upon the faith of the sick and desperate. Not only is that not worthy of our appreciation and respect, it deserves our condemnation.
Agreed. I don’t think any UU, including myself, could condone that.
On a somewhat related note, Nigeria is apparently cracking down on spam: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/internet/10/19/nigeria.crime.reut/index.html
Now if only Hong Kong, India, um, God, etc. would do the same!
What do you mean this is spam?? I contacted Mr. Frank Adege weeks ago and we talked at length. He prayed for me, in fact he had me put my hands on the phone to “feel the Spirit.” He said he was wiring me the money really, really soon. But you know, something didn’t seem quite right about it all….it could be that I was doped on Xanax that night and was really talking to my cat. Xanax makes me kinda loopy.
Two things: First of all this is not Benny Hinn spam. Just because someone uses the name Benny Hinn in an email does not mean that Benny Hinn is the source of the spam.
Most importantly, I did respond to Frank Adege. Even though he talks like a Christian, believe me he is not. Beware of wolves in sheeps clothing! Here is how his scam works. After several emails back and forth where he pretends to want to make a donation of $2.5M to your favoritie Christian charity he writes you an email stating that certain fees have to be paid to “effect the transfer.” Of course, that is where one expects the scam. But, instead he states that the Lord has worked it out and that a wealthy Christian businessman by the name of Peter Beimo will pay the fees. After receiving such an email I actually received a check from Peter Beimo in the amount of $120,670 along with a letter saying that I had to call a certain telephone number to confirm receipt of the check. Still, that wasn’t the scam. No one answered the telephone at first, but shortly after I received an email from Frank saying to go ahead and deposit the check. Once the check cleared I was supposed to wire out the fees so the donation could be made. The letter also mentioned that the check was written off the account of one of his vendors, in this case, Norman Supply Co of Oklahoma. Instead of depositing the check I called the the bank listed on the check who, in turn, called Norman Supply. It turned out that the check was a perfect forgery. If I had deposited that check into my account it would have cleared. And, after I had wired out the same amount to where Frank Adege would tell me it needed to go, only weeks later would the check be proven to be a forgery. My guess is that I would then have been liable for the money and Frank and his cohorts would have gotten away scott free. I called the FBI, but in a nut shell they told me that the email address in Nigeria, as well as all the phone numbers given are virtually untraceable. So the moral of the story: The old adage, “If it seems too good to be true, it probably is” is proven once again. And, just because someone talks of repentance does not mean it truly has occurred. Of course, that is not for us to judge, but again, we must be wise as serpents and harmless as doves!
