Remember: Even though he is not our spiritual leader, we need to give him the utmost respect, even reverence. So what if he will deliver ten pieces of bad news for every piece of good? We should always be gracious to this Grand Inquisitor, because, after all, we’ve never suffered before by the likes of him. To do otherwise would be illiberal.
I don’t know where this is from, but here it is anyway:
“Wisdom from the College of Cardinals:
Hans Grapje was raised in a Catholic school in The Hague and, as a young man, aspired to become a priest, but was drafted into the Army during WWII and spent two years co-piloting B17s until his aircraft was shot down in 1943 and he lost his left arm.
Captain Grapje spent the rest of the war as a chaplain, giving spiritual aid to soldiers, both allied and enemy. After the war, he became a priest, serving as a missionary in Africa, piloting his own plane (in spite of his handicap) to villages across the continent. In 1997, Father Grapje was serving in Zimbabwe when an explosion in silver mine caused a cave-in.
Archbishop Grapje went down into the mine to administer last rights to those too severely injured to move. Another shaft collapsed, and he was buried for three days, suffering multiple injuries, including the loss of his right eye.
The high silver content in the mine’s air gave him purpura, a life-long condition characterized by purplish skin blotches.
Although Cardinal Grapje devoted his life to the service of God as a scholar, mentor, and holy man, church leaders agree he will never
ascend to the Papacy.
No one wants a one-eyed, one-armed, flying purple Papal leader.”
OK., I apparently really dislike this Pope. From mugglenet.com:
“John Paul II praised the books for teaching moral lessons, but the new Pope Benedict XVI has allegedly blasted the Harry Potter books for “undermining the soul of Christianity”.
Nicknamed “God’s Rottweiler” and known as a hardliner on enforcing orthodox church doctrine, Benedict says he is grateful to Harry Potter: Good or Bad author Gabriele Kuby for revealing the hidden agendas behind the books. He says, “It is good that you explain the facts of Harry Potter, because this is a subtle seduction, which has deeply unnoticed and direct effects in undermining the soul of Christianity before it can really grow properly.”
Please note that until we hear this from an official source it should be considered a rumor and nothing more.
Update: Apparently, this was said two years ago when he was still Cardinal Ratzinger.”
